Shelley Loop Thursday 25th Feb

Just two of us this morning. Very warm strong Easterly.
Lead out for the first half, then shared it coming back.
We did the same time as Tuesday which is pretty awesome!

Still not sure about the Bison ride on Sat.
It is 42C at the moment and I would not like to be riding in tempuratures anywhere near that!
No one is riding Freo either so may do my first down the new Southern Freeway and return.
With a swim and coffee in the middle. :)

Shelley Loop Tuesday 23rd Feb

Started with 4 of us with long turns on the front of about 36.
Geoff happy to draft me and get an extra work out. Onya mate, hopefully be as quick as you soon.
Rob peeled off at the halfway (later found out he suffered a puncture so no time gain :( )
Ken a solid ride.
Finished in exactly 45 minutes, average around 33, so enjoyed an extra chat before heading home.

Chidlow Hilly 27km TT Sunday 22nd

http://www.atta.asn.au/maps/chidlowB.html
I was very happy with the results and the way I approached the hill climbing.
1h, 5m, 40s. An average of 24.9km/hr. Didn't quite crack the 25km goal. but it is nearly 2km up on last year's effort in the Gidgegannup hilly.
I actually studied the course and worked out how long I would be climbing each of the major climbs.
It worked out ok if I had checked my watch while riding!!!
Too busy  maintaining a cadence and feeling if I could change up a gear.
The big hill in the middle nearly brought me to my feet. Had to really push hard to keep the pedals moving.

Not sure if I will do the Bison on sat. Weather man is predicting 40C. Don't want to suffere dehydration.
All the weekly group may be riding Sat around the river. If so I will do that and add some hills on the way home.

South Perth to Fremantle

Plans were changed quite a bit after a very late night.
Instead of riding to Fremantle and then complete the Group 3 Freowheelers ride,
I left home at about 7:00am and headed for the Narrows and the route on the Stirling Highway side of the river. The further I went the better I felt and got into a quiet steady pace and rhythm. I worked the hills but rested on the flats and downhill.
I was hoping Group 3 would come past and I could then ride with them to Freo and coffee.
I never saw them. Did an extra loop to Freo Beach and arrived at Topicana about 15 minutes before them. So I was way out on the timing. After coffee, got a lift home with GH as I started feeling worse than ordinary again.
Now another late night instead of resting for tomorrow's TT. We'll see what happens.

Shelley Loop

Did the usual Shelley Loop with Ken. Steady at 35km/hr. Scenery of the sunrise touching the mirror still river was breathtaking.
Rode home via the Narrows which added an extra 15 minutes and 6 km I think??
Will put a map up as soon as I work out how to do it.
I think I will swap over to my racing wheels for the weekend and see how they bear up.
I haven't ridden them since they have been rebuilt. The front is only 20 spoke (currently 32).
The rear is the same except the spokes are only crossed and not laced.

First of Many

After three years riding a recumbent bicycle, I have chosen to share my experiences online. I am very new to blogging and will get better and better. Like my riding.
I intend to emulate the blog of riding buddy in Texas, Mark, called "lifeonabaron".
The diary entries etc are always interesting to me as I too ride the same design bike.

I prefer a low racer recumbent for the advantage of low centre of gravity, aerodynamics and speed.
Photos to follow.
